FAQs

What should I expect from a Consult?

1

I require free Consultations for all services; this allows me to introduce myself in person, and create a bond based in trust with the pet(s) in question. During training consultations, we will go through a thorough list of needs, worries, any bumps in the road, goals, likes and dislikes, and more! For Pet Sitting and Doggy Daycare consultations, we’ll tackle a similar list, including house sitting duties, feedings, medications, and more!

I only have one or two problems I want to train, can we just do that?

3

Absolutely!! Every family is different, you do not need to have a dog who can do every trick in the book (unless you want one!). Each program I offer is based on basic learning and habit breaking tracking in dogs. All dogs learn differently, and at varying speeds, although we can estimate based off of experience and scientific evidence. Habit Breaking can take 4 weeks to several months depending on the severity of the behavior, whereas learning can take 6 weeks to several months. Why? Well - bad behaviors are easily reinforced in a dog’s mind even if we can’t tell. The longer it goes on, the stronger the neurological connections, muscle memory, and the positive reactions from the dog are. Consistency, mixed with the support of a trainer and layered education, creates a manageable effect that my shorter programs are created to help you do just that!

What kinds of pets do you provide care for?

4

Outside of dogs and cats, I have experience caring for bunnies, reptiles, fish, rodents and birds! I’m always happy to add a unique member to the pack.

Is my 10 year old dog trainable? What about my teacup Chihuahua?

5

All dogs and cats are trainable with the right bond, positive addition (treats, toys, environments, attention,) patience, and need meeting. The only reasons a dog may be “untrainable” would relate to medical conditions such as intense pain or neurological conditions, or a lack of needs being met. An example of “needs,” would be; are they fed and watered? are they in pain? have they gotten enrichment? did something bad happen recently causing fear? so on and so forth. All of these can be managed - with some minor exceptions such as extreme neurological conditions.

Cancellations, Fees, Refunds, Severe Weather Emergencies, and Emergencies

6

For all training programs, payment is required before the beginning of our first session - not the consultation. For training programs, any day-of cancellations will be considered a “used” session and cannot be rescheduled - when purchasing a package, if sessions are unassigned for longer than 3 months, they become obsolete. There is an extra holiday fee - $25.00 on the total, and an additional pet fee, $10.00 on the total.

All sales are final - and no cancellation fees are required for Pet Sitting or Daycare services. For Pet Sitting and Daycare services, there is an extra holiday fee - $25.00 on the total, and an additional pet fee, $10.00 on the total.

I require all veterinary and emergency contact information upfront before any pet sitting services, and will install a fire, poison, weather and vet plan for each client.

On the very rare chance roads become blocked or unusable during severe weather, I will do my best to make it to your pet as needed - if impassable, we will have an emergency plan in place.

What forms of payment do you take?

7

I take Cash, Check and Electronic Transfers!

Checks and Electronic Transfers are subject to Connecticut Sales Tax (6.35%).
